Happy 10th Anniversary TJP!
Founded in 2016, The Jazz Project (TJP) is a Toronto-based chamber choir, led by Tom Lillington of Hampton Avenue. The choir primarily focuses on performing jazz standards, although we also sing jazz arrangements of some pop songs. Learning tracks are provided for those who prefer to learn their parts by ear.
We perform both acappella repertoire and songs accompanied by a band. We rehearse Fridays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm near Bayview and Sheppard, from September to May, and have two performances per year, in January and late May.
Interested in joining?
TJP welcomes new members. Are you interested in joining us? Ideally, applicants are comfortable reading music, will have sung in other choirs, and are interested in the unique sounds of ensemble jazz singing.
To book an audition, please contact us at info@thejazzproject.net. In your covering email, please tell us about your past musical experience and how you learned about The Jazz Project.
For the audition, our music director will ask you to perform a short song of your choice (preferably jazz style) and then do some vocal exercises and music reading.
